Review - Pushing the Limits

AUTHOR: Katie McGarry
SERIES: Pushing the Limits #1
TYPE & SOURCE: Brought e-book

SYNOPSIS: So wrong for each other …and yet so right.

No one knows what happened the night Echo Emerson went from popular girl with jock boyfriend to gossiped-about outsider with "freaky" scars on her arms. Even Echo can't remember the whole truth of that horrible night. All she knows is that she wants everything to go back to normal.

But when Noah Hutchins, the smoking-hot, girl-using loner in the black leather jacket, explodes into her life with his tough attitude and surprising understanding, Echo's world shifts in ways she could never have imagined. They should have nothing in common. And with the secrets they both keep, being together is pretty much impossible.

Yet the crazy attraction between them refuses to go away. And Echo has to ask herself just how far they can push the limits and what she'll risk for the one guy who might teach her how to love again.

REVIEW: When I first heard about Pushing the Limits, I incorrectly assumed it was your typical book about a good girl who falls in love with a bad boy. Boy, was I wrong.

The characters were very 3D. With every page, I learned a bit more about them and got a better understanding of what make them tick and why they acted a certain way. Even though I’ve never experienced anything quite like Noah or Echo did, I still found myself very able to connect to them. Both were teenagers that were struggling to find themselves - the real them, and decide what they truly wanted.

The plot had more twists than I expected. I flew through this book really fast - I could not wait to see what happened next. There’s that mystery behind what really happened to Echo and also what made Noah the way he is. To be honest, I was very surprised when it was all revealed - I didn't see ANY of it coming!

The one thing I guessed correctly about this book is the romance that takes place, but I was wrong on the type. I thought it would be a bit more heated, but it was really cute and it felt… right, like the characters were meant to be together. Also, they took it kind of slow, just a little at a time and I really liked that.

Overall, I really enjoyed Pushing the Limits. I surprised me in a lot of good ways and I can’t wait until December 30, 2014, the day when Breaking the Rules, the next book in the series that focuses mainly on Echo and Noah.

RATING: REALLY ICY

4 Snowflakes

RECOMMENDATION: I would totally recommend Pushing the Limits to anyone who enjoyed reading Perfect Chemistry. They both remind me of each other. But while they do sound similar, they tell the stories of many different characters.
