REVIEW:
DON'T TURN AROUND by Michelle Gagnon is centered around two teens, Noa, and Peter. They are both hackers who try to use their computer skills for the good of the community. It usually means coming up with a viral attack on the people or company that is causing grief. Noa is an orphan who ran away from the foster care system. Her whole life changes when one day she wakes up in a warehouse, with an IV in her arm, and no idea how she got there, or why she was there for. Peter is a teen with rich parents. He's not overly smart, but extremely good with computers. When Peter stumbles across a file that belongs to his father (who he calls Bob), he finds out about AMRF. To Peter, the file seems to scream FOUL! so he digs a bit into on his laptop, only to have it taken away from him when a few goons break into his house. He then enlists the help of RAIN aka Noa to help him find more information on the company. What is the company trying to do, and why are they trying so hard to cover up what they are doing? Those are the questions running through Noa and Peter's head throughout the book and the ones they are trying to find the answers to...

Both Peter and Noa are alone. Peter's parents and college freshman girlfriend don't really pay attention to him. In his girlfriend's case, at least not anymore. His best friend is busy studying for Med School and the goons who came to his house shut down the forum he created for hackers. Noa ran away from the system and has been on her own since. She survives on the money her "dad" makes (He works online, through the computer, never on sight... Noa is the one really doing the work). But after she leaves the warehouse, where she was kidnapped to, she no longer has any ID's, something she desperately needs in order to get money form the bank. Peter has the money. Noa has the skills and the time. (No school for her...) They need each other. And together they have a chance of solving the mystery, alone, they are doomed.

I really enjoyed reading DON'T TURN AROUND. Okay, I'll admit when I first picked it up is was for the cover. It looked so interesting. But the synopsis drew me in even more. It's not everyday that you get to read a book about hackers. Let alone ones that are trying to solve a mystery. It contained a somewhat unique story line, and I loved it for it. The book was also unpredictable, which kept me flipping the pages and wishing I had the time to finish it in one sitting. You never knew what was going to happen next or the consequences of the actions of Noa and Peter. You would also find it surprising about how little some people seen to care. Overall, Michelle Gagnon wrote a terrific book. I can't wait to read the next one!
