Watermarks

As all artists know, the last thing you do before publishing your work, is sign it with your special and unique signature. Now a lot of people may be wondering, how do photographers and graphic artists sign their work or at least how do they take credit for it. That's what watermarks are for.

Watermarks aren't just that little annoying thing you find in the middle of a picture you like. Watermarks are one of the few ways that digital artists can receive credit for their work, along with to prevent other people like us from using their work without asking them first.

There are a few different types of watermarks. The main three being text, picture, and tiled.

  • Text: Text is used when you want to use words for your watermark/s

  • Picture: Pictures are used when someone wants to use something like a logo for their watermark/s.

  • Tiled: Tile is used when a person wants to cover the entire picture with lots of the same watermark/s.

Watermarks can be positioned in various spots of your digital media. Sometimes they can be found smack in the middle, while other times they can be found in the bottom left hand corner.

Watermarks are not very hard to apply to your pictures or other things you want to use the watermark on. When it comes to applying watermarks, there is no need to do each one manually. In fact there are some sites on the internet that don't require membership that offer to help you apply watermarks to your pictures. If you decide to use any of those sites, you can apply the watermark to multiple pictures at once, as long as you use the same watermark for all of them. Just don't forget to save the new pictures with watermarks afterwards. I like to use picmarkr to add watermarks to my pictures. They give you a few options and do it quickly and for free.

*All pictures are from picmarkr. B,A,&OT does not own any of the pictures.
